Notary Public

Details   A notary public (sometimes called a notary or a public notary) in New Zealand is a lawyer authorised by the Archbishop of Canterbury in England to officially witness signatures on legal documents, collect sworn statements, admininster oaths and certify the authenticity of legal documents for use overseas.

A notary public has internationally recognised authority to witness signatures on legal documents, administer oaths and certify the authenticity of legal documents.

Points to note about Williams McKenzie Notary service:

Appointments are essential.  Williams McKenzie will endeavour to arrange appointments at short notice for urgent matters, if at all possible.

Documents to be notarised must be brought in at least 2 days before the appointment so that we can assess what is required and prepare supporting certificates.

The Notary fee depends on the size and complexity of the documents required to be notarised.  There is a minimum charge of $120 plus GST.

Payment is required at the time of your appointment.  EFTPOS and credit card facilities are available.

Passport or driver’s licence must be brought to the appointment.

If the document being notarised refers to a specific identity document, the notary will need to sight that particular document.

If you need to sign any documents, DO NOT sign them until your appointment as the Notary must witness you signing them.
